Andrew Roche: Outside the Office

Andrew Roche: NCAA Varsity Student-Athlete

Andrew Roche has always exhibited a competitive edge. Growing up he tested his hand at some sports. Lacrosse, hockey, football, and golf to name a few. He then focused on lacrosse and football in high school while at Cranbrook Kingswood and then followed his passion for lacrosse at Albion College.

Andrew was one of the founding 14 players of the men’s varsity lacrosse program at Albion College. The team faced a lot of adversity as a first-year Division III program. However, the team grew immensely that season and laid a strong foundation for years to come.

This may not seem like an experience worth mentioning, but several traits and skills typical of student-athletes are valuable in the professional world.

Some of these skills include their unwavering resilience, their ability to focus on a goal and achieve it, their habit of putting the success of the team before our own, and one of Andrew’s favorites  they’re scrappy.

Andrew Roche: High School Lacrosse Coach

Following his playing career, Andrew Roche spent three seasons coaching high school teams. He had the pleasure of working with two high school programs. He first led the Harper Creek HS program in their inaugural season in 2013. Then, upon completing his undergraduate studies, Andrew Roche joined the Detroit Country Day coaching staff for their 2014 and 2015 campaigns. The rush that comes with playing the game is second to none. However, Andrew found that helping players develop on the field and grow as young men to be equally rewarding.

Andrew Roche: Lacrosse Official

After experiencing the game as a player and a coach,  Andrew Roche decided to become an official and join the “third team” on the field. While the stripes aren’t exactly Andrew’s preferred style, he finds his current role extremely rewarding since he is able to interact with far more players as an official than he did as a coach. While his primary task as an official is to keep the players safe, Andrew is still able to share his knowledge of the game with developing players.
